How To Burn Your Wooden Wick Candle

The secret to a pristine, crackling flame lies in the maintenance of the wick itself. A shorter wick allows the wax to flow up to the flame efficiently; if the wick is too long, it cannot "pull" the wax as fuel, which results in a flickering, weak flame or a self-extinguishing candle.

When lighting for the first time, use your wick trimmers to trim the wood to approximately 1/8'' (3mm). If you do not have a wick trimmer, simply light the wicks and let them burn for approximately 1-2 minutes. You will notice that the wicks now have a large black charred part and the flames are almost non existent / look like they are going to go out - this is NORMAL. Once the 1-2 minutes has passed, blow them out, wait for them to cool, and then pinch off the charred excess to make the wicks shorter. Relight. This will now leave you with a correct and absolutely beautiful burn.

Before every relighting, you must trim or clear away any charred wood from the previous burn. You can easily do this by pinching off the blackened tip with your fingers.
